Description
Antique 1926 Friendship Quilt measuring 65 by 78 inches. It is comprised of 30 blocks, 13 by 13 inches, set straight, 5 by 6. Each block consists of a hand embroidered name inscription in the center pink area, and hand embroidered flowers, baskets, birds and other motifs in the white triangular areas. It is machine pieced, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. Each pink seam is also hand embroidered is a variety of colors and stitches. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse the edge is finished with and applied white binding, by machine. The date Dec 25, 1926 is hand embroidered in one block. Many generic names such as mother, Father, Mama, Papa in addition to family names like Uncle Carl, and more formal names such as Mary Dowling, Audrey Haddon, and Elma Graybill. Geographic origin is unknown. It is in good condition with just a few small spots. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $30 is a domestic shipping estimate for first lot and includes insurance.
