Description
Antique c1850 Star and Swag Quilt measuring 84 by 84 inches. It is comprised of 25 blocks, 16.5 by 13.5 inches, set straight, 5 by 5 it is in pieced, hand appliquéd, and minimally hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with a Turkey red print applied binding. The block is very unique with a 16 point stars in the center surrounded by 4 swag motifs. Each corner features and Oakleaf. And it each intersection is a hand appliquéd 8 point star. The Oakleaf and star creates a secondary design. It is in poor condition with spots, toning, edge wear, small tears, and the Turkey red print is starting to pop. One point on a starburst and one leaf appears to have been restored. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
