Description
Antique Sawtooth Variation Nine-Patch & Vintage Wholecloth Quilts. Includes an antique c1850s Sawtooth Nine Patch variation, not found in any books, possibly Pennsylvania origin, consist of 30 equal nine patch blocks, set straight, 5 x 6, with printed white center squares in each block containing faded, illegible signatures along with a variety of fabrics including quercitron yellows, madders, double greens, double pinks and more, a floral print sashing between the blocks, a sawtooth triangle inner border and a madder print outer border, hand pieced and hand quilted, thin cotton batting, white cotton reverse, one side has been cut down, measuring 75″ x 82″, in poor condition with a large stained and torn area, heavy discoloration and fading, fabric deterioration, spots and small holes. Also includes a white cotton wholecloth quilt with cross-hatch diamond pattern in the center and cable pattern outer border, hand quilted, thin cotton batting and white cotton reverse, measuring 68″ x 78″, in fair condition with overall discoloration, stains, edgewear, and small holes. From the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author. In overall good condition minor spots and/or discolorations, please see the photographs for imperfections.
