Description
Antique c1870 Oak Leaf and Reel Quilt measuring 78 by 78 inches. It is comprised of 9 blocks, about 15 by 15 inches, set straight, 3 by 3, with 3.5″ red wool sashing and yellow print cornerstones. There is a 2.25 inch green and yellow print sawtooth inner border and an 11 inch double pink outer border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is a medium loft cotton batting and a red and green print bars back reverse. The edge is finished with the front brought to the back, applied by hand. It is in fair condition with spots, toning, line discoloration, and somewhere to the red sashing and edge. There is a sleeve on the back for hanging. This Quilt was part of the Judy Roche Estate. The proceeds for the sale of this quilt will benefit the American Quilt Study Group 2025 annual seminar in Portland Maine this year.
