Description
19th Century Tan/Brown Silk Promenade Dress c1880. The lot includes a matching bodice and skirt. Featuring a bodice in tan silk with puffed sleeves, brown velvet trim at the neck, elbows, and across the bust. As well as bronze metallic trim and bronze colored glass beads in a floral motif. The inside of the bodice is lined in plain cotton with both white and pink stays with 1 stamped Coraline Dress Stays, and hook and eye closures. The matching skirt features an outer shell of tan silk with an applied gathered and puffed trim at the hem in tan silk with black and metallic beaded accents. The inside of the skirt is lined in a plain cotton chintz with a hook and closure at the waist and an inner velvet band at the hem line. Laying flat the dress measures: bust 15”, waist 12”, sleeves 22”, Skirt: waist 12”, front length 39”, back length 40 1/4”. The pairing is in fair/poor condition with small holes peppered throughout and shattering to the silk in the underarms. The collar on the bodice is partially attached and coming unsewn.
