Description
Antique c1850 Carpenters Star Signature Quilt measuring 76 by 76 inches. It is comprised of 16 blocks, set on point, 4 by 4, with white setting squares and triangles. It is hand pieced, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. There are 7 blocks with hand inked signatures, one with hand embroidered initials. Most of the signatures are illegible, Mary Torbit with an illegible location, Elizabeth Schaefer, and 2 signatures with Forget-Me-Not. It is in good condition with several spots. From the estate of Sharon Stark, noted Pennsylvania textile dealer and award winning author. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
