Description
Vintage 1930s Democratic Rose Quilt measuring 66×76″. 5 Democratic Rose Motifs (1 in center, and 1 in each corner) along with flowers in pots at the corners and the center of each border. It is hand appliqued and hand quilted. There are 2 hand embroidered dates in pink Perl cotton thread in opposite corners: 1932 and 1938. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the an applied pink cotton solid binding. It is in good condition. This quilt can be seen on page 35 of “Vintage Quilts” co-authored by Bobby Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
