Description
Antique c1880 Twinkling Star Quilt measuring 63×80 “. Comprised of 20 Stars, about 10.5×10.5″, set straight, 4 by 5, with 5.5″ white sashing and pieced pinwheel cornerstones. There is a 1.5″ double pink inner border, and 1” white outer border on 3 sides. It is hand and machine pieced and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied binding of double pink print along 3 sides, and white along the 4th. In fair condition with spots and several fabrics deteriorating. Great variety of prints including madder browns, centennial green, cheddar and more. Great small scale triangles! There is a sleeve for hanging attached to the back along the top of the quilt. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
