Description
Group of 4 molas with hand reverse appliqué and appliqué, 2–3 layers.
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s, 17 x 22 inches
A grey-ground panel worked in interlocking yellow, orange, and red contour forms with fine zigzag accent edges, the dark field densely populated with small multicolor dash-fill slits in pink, blue, green, and white.
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s, 14 x 19 inches
A heavily worked red-ground panel built from concentric arcs, stars, and meander bands in an unusually muted palette of grey, ochre, teal, and lavender, with dense rows of fine slit-fill throughout and decorative rickrack trim along the top edge.

A black ground composition worked in bold red, yellow, and orange interlocking forms with stepped meander and spiral motifs, the surface accented with white and ochre dash-fill and zigzag edging.

A striking two-color mola worked in purple appliqué on a deep pink-red ground, the field organized into a grid of compartments each filled with stepped fret, hook, and key motifs.
