Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1940s

(1) Guna geometric maze mola worked in two layers of reverse appliqué with appliqué accents. Dense, allover labyrinth design on a dark red ground with light blue channels throughout. Retains original blouse construction with orange appliqué band and dark blue rickrack trim at the neckline, and pleated light blue cotton ruffle at the hem.

(2) Guna geometric spiral labyrinth mola worked in three layers of reverse appliqué. Four repeating maze motifs arranged in a quadrant composition on a red ground, with blue and white channels.
