Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s

Finely worked reverse appliqué mola panel depicting three stylized propeller forms arranged symmetrically around a central cross motif, each containing a rectangular screen element, executed in three layers of red and green cotton with appliqué accents and hand embroidery in yellow, blue, orange, purple, pink, and white. Polychrome appliquéd letters are scattered throughout the composition, characteristic of Guna interpretations of observed text and modern technology. Possible reference to U.S. military aircrafts. Dense, fully filled composition with sawtooth channeling and slit-work throughout.

Condition report:
Minor wear and fading consistent with age, and a small hole. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
