Description
Floretta Emma Warfel – Moving Day. 30″ x 46″. Signed with the initials F.E.W. and hand painted on white fabric, this piece depicts a busy moving day scene. A man in a brown hat lifts a heavy piece of furniture from the back of a bright red U-Haul trailer while the driver sits in the cab. A woman stands at the door while curious neighbors come to check out the action. The landscape is composed of bright green trees and rolling hills in shades of browns and black. Born in Dushmore, PA in 1906, Floretta Emma Warfel began painting in her early sixties with the suggestion of a young neighbor. Using ballpoint tubes of paint and most often used cloth for canvas, she constructs colorful landscapes that are distorted and good humored. Mrs. Warfel’s paintings combine scenes from her native Pennsylvania, memories of farm life, and a vivid imagination. For further information see, N.F.
