Description
2 Antique Doll Quilts – Double 9 Patch and Crazy Quilt. A Double 9 Patch doll quilt that is c1850 and measures 15.5″x15.5″. There is Prussian blue and indigo painted chintz from an earlier time period. The blocks and assembly are hand pieced. A narrow overdyed green binding is hand applied. A printed cotton was used for the backing. The hand quilting was done at a 2.5″ diagonal. A couple of fabrics have deteriorated and preservation has been applied. Included as well is an 1896 Crazy Quilt doll quilt which measures 14.5″x16.5″. There are no silks or velvets. M.C. Henry embroidered her name and age of 68 alongside the year. It has a hand printed back and it is hand quilted with no batting. The pink binding is also in the quilt so it was finished at the same time it was pieced. There are some spots and toning.
