Description
Vintage c1950 Baltimore Album Quilt 2 measures 86×100″. Made by Genevieve Odom of Fayette County, PA. Medallion style with lavender basket with flowers, Bible, and dove, and more flowers in the corners of the 31″x31″ center block. There are 15×31″ blocks on each side of the center with flower and fruit baskets, with 15×15″ corner blocks of more flowers in wreaths, vases, and cornucopia. There are 4 additional 15″x15′ floral applique blocks along one side, and a 12″ border with vines and flowers, and blue bows in the corners. Several fabrics are sateen and satin, in addition to the solid cottons. It is hand pieced, hand appliqued, hand embroidered and hand quilted. Thin cotton sateen and pink sateen reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front, by hand. There is an appraisal from 2009 included that can be used for documentation or provenance.
