March Antique & Vintage Quilt & Textile Auction
Lot 8A:
Description
Antique Broken Dishes Quilt Top with blocks made in 1865, but I believe the top was put together later. It measures 83 by 83 inches. It is comprised of 324 blocks, 4.25 by 4.25 inches, set straight, 18 by 18, with 162 broken dishes blocks in a variety of brown prints, and 162 white dot on red fabric alternating squares. There is a 3.5″ white dot on red border. It is hand and machine pieced. It is just a quilt top with no batting, backing, or quilting. There is a small tag attached stating that this was made during the Civil War by Mary Trago, Tiro, Crawford County, Ohio. It is in good condition with only minor discolorations. This quilt top was previously part of the Pilgrim Roy Collection.
