Description
Antique Sentiment Journal with saying similar to what we find inscribed on Album Quilts. This is a sentiment journal written in the mid 1800s with dates ranging from the 1840s to the 1850s. It features various letters and dedications with the first one being dedicated to a niece of the name of Anna by her aunt Harriet. The front page features the dedication from aunt to niece and it is signed with the date. The following pages feature an assortment of dedications with various writing styles but all in cursive. Some of the names mentioned are Annie, Georgia, Virginia, Emilia, and more. Most of the writing is legible with some being a bit difficult with the faded ink. The pages are not bound and the majority are loose with only a few pages attached to one another. The front and back cover are detached but both are black with gold filigree accents on it. The pages which are present feature visible signs of age and they are a bit fragile. The book cover was bought from H. Longstreth School Book Depository on Market Street in Philadelphia.
