Description
2 Vintage Blue and White Basket Quilts. Includes a c1900 Basket Quilt measuring 72 by 80 inches. The baskets are arranged on point and alternate in orientation. It is hand pieced, hand quilted, and hand appliquéd. The alternating Old Italian Block creates an interesting setting, like a sashing with cornerstones. It is in poor condition with overall edge wear, spots and discolorations, fading and several holes. And a c1930 Basket quilt measuring 70 by 71 inches. It is comprised of 25 baskets, 8 by 8 inches, set on point, with plain white alternating squares and setting triangles. There is a white border 3 inches to 7.5 inches wide. It is hand and machine pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand along 2 sides, and 2 sides I believe were cut down and had a white binding added, by machine.
