Sarah Cox Blazing Star Reproduction. The original quilt was made by Sarah Cox Malden, Massachusetts c. 1870 and is described as a Seven Point Blazing Star. The quilt descended in the Cox family and is said to have been made to celebrate the occasion of the birth of the maker’s grandson, Harold Haven Brow. This reproduction measures 83×85″. It is comprised of a medallion style blazing star within scalloped concentric circles that are filled with a variety of star wedges as well as two rectangular outer borders also filled with star wedges. The date 10/24/24 and the initials “E.R.” are embroidered onto the bottom of the outer border with the wedges. It is machine appliqued, machine pieced, and machine quilted. There is a stamped label and also a signature, “E. Rosenbach,” on the reverse. The quilt is in excellent condition with excellent workmanship. Please see the About This Auction for her story!
