Description
Sunflower Birds and Applipop Trees Quilt measuring 78 x 78″ and inspired by an 1898-1910 folk art quilt called Birds and Trees. The center medallion is different from one of the originals which looked like a sun. Other names for the quilt were Birds in the Cherry Orchard with grapes, and Birds in the Orchard. Several birds are scattered throughout the center as well as in the grape vine border. There are a wide variety of green and burgundy prints on a toile ground. It is machine pieced, machine appliqued and machine quilted with a white cotton reverse. The quilt is in excellent condition with excellent workmanship. The quilt was complete in November 2021.
