19th Century Mourning Jewelry. The lot includes three pieces of late 19th century mourning jewelry. Featuring a .76” x .58” gold filled mourning locket with a twisting frame, a partial photograph of a little girl, and a beautifully twisted and coiled spiral of auburn hair. The back of the locket opens. In good condition. A 1.12” x .92” mourning brooch consisting of an oval black onyx slab with hand applied enamel lily of the valley design set in a gold filled frame with a twisting border, and a white metal hinged bar closure with a C clasp. In fair condition with minor chips around the outer rim of the black onyx slab. Also included is an 1879 double hinged mourning cuff bracelet featuring a .78” x .57” rectangular center point with a gold filled frame with hand etched scrollwork accents and set with a concave rectangular black onyx slab. The center focal point houses two hinges that allow the arms it move in and out, the arms were originally covered in black enamel and the bracelet has a patent date of Dec. 15, 1879. It is in fair/poor condition with heavy extensive enamel loss on the arms. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
