Description
19th Century Cotton Printed Fragments. There are 2 fragments of a cotton textile called The Bird Catcher. The piece was hand rolled on cotton with a purple hue in 1811 by Jean Baptiste Huet for the Oberkampf Manufactory. It features a young bird thief. The two textiles has a diamond lined background and features a group of birds on a hanging bowl, two young boys, and a group of sheep. The pieces are 8.75″x13.75″ and 8.75″x21.75″. The two pieces are in good condition. Included as well is an early 19th century cotton textile. It is a purple copperplate on cotton and it is called Scenes Familiales. It depicts various scenes from a domestic life with a family gathered at a table, children by a tree, a woman teaching a child how to pray, and many other scenes from a domestic life. It is in good condition with some minor color loss and discoloration. It is 41″x86.5″ with two 28″x19″ section. There are photosensitive spots on the piece from exposure to sunlight and some storage line discoloration. There are additionally two pieces that are included from 1805-1815 and it is a Toile de Nantes with the name Le Cacatoes. It is a purple roller print on cotton and it has la perriche or the parrotkeet on it. It has a pastoral design with birds, lovers, a mother with her baby, and other figural depictions. One piece is 32″x42.5″ and the other piece is 20.5″x28.5″. There are a few holes on each piece but they are otherwise in good condition.
