5 Swatch Books – 1812-1899 French and Oriental. There are approximately 750 swatches throughout the 5 self assembled books. Featured in this lot is a book with about 210 swatches with pieces from 1899. It is an assorted collection of silk jacquards with about 210 pieces. Geometric, florals, stripes, plaids, and more are included in a bright array of colors. With pieces from 1890 is a book dedicated to Oriental silk jacquards with conversational designs. There are about 10 pieces included which features mountains, florals geometrics, sphinxes, and more. The pieces are generally in good condition though there are a few with some spots. A book is dedicated to French silk jacquards from 1812. The cover features a vibrant purple swatch which serves as a hint for the beauty inside of the book. There are about 200 pieces which feature a range of patterns with florals as the main one on display. There are several spots on the pieces that are included. The book with an empty cover consists of about 140 pieces of silk jacquard with stripes, florals, geometrics, and other figures. Though some of the pieces have many spots, it does not strip them of their beauty and a memory of the past. The last book which is included has about 150 pieces and like the others in this lot, it consists of silk jacquards. The first page is a wonderful representation of what to come with the turn of each page. Each piece glistens in the light, even those which are imperfect with spots and toning.
