Description
Antique c1850 Old Italian Album Quilt -Missouri, measuring 84 by 84 inches. It is comprised of 50 blocks, 8.5 by 8.5 inches, set on point and staggered, 5 by 10, with 3 inch striped print sashing, and setting triangles. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied print fabric. The center of each block has a hand inked signature, with one having the addition of what appears to be Missouri. We could not discern any dates but one looks like late 1840s. It is in poor condition with several fabrics deteriorated, splits, holes, large dark spots, and edge wear. There are some wonderful period fabrics in this quilt.
