Description
Antique 1850s Album Quilt Top – Princeton, NJ measuring 68×85″. It is comprised of 20 blocks, 14×15″, set straight, 4 by 5 with 2.75″ horizontal sashing and 3.5″ vertical sashing. It is hand pieced, and hand inked with name inscriptions or signatures in the center of most of the blocks, Names include Jane Skillman, Elizabeth M Cock, Susan Hubbard, Eliza Avard, William Joyce, Mary Jane Moore, Catherine Robbins, Rhoda Solts, John Henderborn (sp?), Ursula Henderborn (sp?), with many names from Princeton, NJ with last names familiar to the area such as Moorestown, Skillman, and Robbinsville. A great piece of local history for us! it is in good condition with toning, spots, and discoloration, but all the Turkey Red print fabrics are intact. And there are a nice variety of the prints.
