Description
Antique c1850 Original Rose Quilt measuring 90 by 91 inches. It is comprised of 25 blocks, 14 by 14 inches, set straight, 5 by 5 with 13 original Rose appliqué blocks and 12 white solid alternating squares. There is a 10 inch appliqué border with an undulating vine and bud motif. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and wonderfully hand quilted in feather motifs and triple rod diagonal quilting in the border. Thin cotton batting and off white cotton reverse the edge is finished with an applied green fabric binding. It is in poor condition with several spots, including 2 dark areas possibly ink or ash, and the Turkey red fabric is popping in many flowers. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to ask.
