Description
Antique c1860 Bouquet Quilt measuring 67 by 87 inches. It is comprised of 6 blocks, 16.5 by 16.5 inches, set straight, 2 by 3, with a 15 inch swag floral and leaf appliqué inner border, similar to the flowers in the bouquet block in the center. There is a 3 inch solid red outer border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and a red solid reverse the edge is finished with the front brought to the back, applied by hand. It is in poor condition with edge wear, large discolorations and spots, the green fabric has faded to blue in several leaves, and the flower applique is lifting in two areas.
