Description
Antique hand-painted double-sided leather fan signed by M. Rodique, featuring intricate hand painted Figural and floral scenes. The fan features highly iridescent and heavily worked mother of pearl guards and ribs, each rib is uniquely carved to form a scenic composition when opened. It is fitted with a gold-toned loop, a rhinestone rivets, and an ivory silk tassel with gold tone metallic accents . Condition issues include some wear along the top of the leaf and slight discoloration. Measures 11 1/4 in x 21 in and comes in a Asian black lacquer box with hand painted accents. There is also a note included stating that the fan is “swan skin” and is from the mid to late 18th century. We believe the fan is from the 19th century. Please see the photos for details.
