Description
Antique folding fan with an embroidered leaf and spangles. The hand fan features a finely embroidered silk leaf with hand painted floral and musical motifs, as well as metallic gold tone thread and spangles in multiple colors. The sticks and guards are made of carved bone, with inlaid silver and gold leaf accents highlighted by colorful inlaid discs. The guards have pink abalone backs and oval inset medallions with applied plaster medallions behind glass. The fan is in fair condition with toning, splits at almost every folding juncture, missing/worn inlay and gilding, and glass missing on one guard. Measures 11 in x 19 in. Enclosed note with fan states it’s a Louis XVI period fan. Please see the photos for details. If you have any questions, please ask before bidding.
