Description
Vintage c1930 Embroidered Signature Quilt, no date or location, but I have strong feeling it is from NJ based on looking up several names. It measures 64 by 73 inches. It is comprised of 30 blocks, 10.5 by 10.5 inches, set straight, 5 by 6, with a 1.5 inch purple print sashing and 2.25 inch border. Each block is divided into 8 equal triangular parts with a purple hand embroidered line on which a name is inscribed. Each block has a different style signature so I believe many hands created this comfort quilt. It is machine pieced, hand embroidered, and hand tied. There is a thin blanket inside as batting and a lavender print reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by machine. It is in fair condition with overall toning, fading, storage line discoloration, and other spots. There is a sleeve on the reverse along one side for hanging.
