Description
Multi Generational Rose Wreath Variation Quilt. The quilt top in c1880, and finished about c1950. The blocks are unique in that there are 6 red flowers instead of 4 or 8. All the flower and leaf elements are stuffed or Trapunto. The quilt measures 81 by 81 inches. It is comprised of 16 blocks, 16 by 16 inches, set straight, 4 by 4, with 3.5″ appliquéd Maryland stairstep ssashing, and border, and Trapunto Rose cornerstones. It is hand appliquéd, machine pieced, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a small floral print reverse (c1950). The edge is finished with an applied off white fabric binding. It is in good condition with a few small spots, and I believe that the green leaves and appliqué in the sashing were much brighter and is starting to fade.
