Description
Vintage Amish Monkey Wrench Quilt measuring 54 by 76 inches. It is comprised of 15 blocks, 7 by 7 inches, set straight, 3 by 5 with 5.5 inch vertical sashing, and 4 inch horizontal sashing. There is a 3.5″ brown inner border and 8 inch blue outer border. It is hand and machine pieced, and hand quilted. There is thin cotton batting and a brown cotton chambray reverse. The edge is finished with an applied green fabric binding. There is Velcro on the back on all 4 sides, for hanging. It is in fair condition with several spots and discolorations and minor fabric deterioration. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer, quilt store co-owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
