Description
19th Century Beaded Pin Cushion and Matching Mat. The group includes a 19th century beaded pin cushion and matching beaded mat. The pin cushion features a 3D flower shape with a top layer in watermelon colored velvet heavily beaded with white and clear glass beads in floral motifs. It is backed in light pink silk and has a looped and intertwined beaded edge with white silk seam binding. It measures 8”x8”x2 1/4” deep. The matching mat features the same flower shape and similar heavy floral beading in clear glass beads. The top is faced in watermelon colored velvet, edged in white silk seam binding, and backed in a once white cotton chintz with a looped beaded edge. It measures 12.5” x 12.5”. The pairing is in fair condition with holes in the velvet top fabric and silk binding and significant losses to the looped beaded border on the pin cushion.
