Description
19th Century Goat Hair Cape/Poncho. The lot includes a unique 19th century goat hair cape featuring a curly ivory colored goat hair inner shell, an outer shell of machine quilted ivory silk satin in a wavy pattern with a thin cotton batting reverse, sand colored felt trim with pinked edges, a double frog clasp at the left shoulder, and a hood-like collar/flap. Laying flat it measures: 45” L by 30” W. It is in fair/poor condition with split seams throughout, several thread bare areas where the silk weft has aged causing a shredding appearance, and 1 missing half of a frog closure.
