Description
Antique 1850 Baltimore Album Quilt 98 x101 inches. It is comprised of 25 appliquéd blocks, 14.5 x 14.5 inches, set straight, 5 by 5, with an 8.5 inch scalloped edge off white border with appliquéd green leaves. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, and hand quilted. The name Sarah A Pattison is hand inked in the center block with the lyre. And JT Caulk is hand embroidered in petit point in another blocks with a Bible. There are 2 other blocks with petit point initials. There is thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. It is in fair condition with overall toning, spots, fabric deterioration, and evidence of conservation. This quilt uses very typical Baltimore album style blocks including the Eagle with Bunting, the Lyre, baskets of flowers, and more. Interesting to note is the Odd Fellows block.
