Description
Antique c1920 9 Patch Tied Comfort Quilt measuring 67×83″. It is comprised of 70 squares, 8 by 8 inches, set straight, 7 by 10 with 35 Double 9 Patch blocks and 35 alternating large scale floral red print squares. There is a 5 inch large-scale red print border along the vertical sides. It is machine pieced, and hand tied in a black pearl cotton thread at regular intervals. There is thick cotton batting and a home dyed brown cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. The quilt has a variety of fabrics including those wonderful Art Nouveau floral prints, earlier indigos, claret, Garibaldi red, velvet and wool. It is in good condition with small scattered spots particularly in the pink floral fabric. From an Alexandria, VA collector. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
