Description
1 Large Piece of Eisenhower Toile c1956-1960. The lot features a large piece of vintage Eisenhower Toile designed by Elisabeth Draper and Katherine Sturges and produced by Schumacher&Co from 1956-1960. It features scenes from Eisenhower’s hobbies, life, and career accomplishments. As well as scenes from Denver, Abilene, West Point, Columbia University, Gettysburg, and The White House. The former first lady even has a dress made of this toile. The pattern was also used at Blair House and Gettysburg Farm. It measures 36” x 36” and is featured in “Toile: The Storied Fabrics of Europe & America” pg 172. In good condition. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
