Description
Antique c1870 Pinwheel 4 Patch Quilt Top with a selectively cut Paisley fabric border. It measures 60×88″. It is hand pieced. Great madder prints, early purples, and centennial green fabrics. In good condition with tiny tear in a corner, small spots, and the off white fabrics in the pinwheels have turned brown. This is very common for this time period if the fabric was treated, like a glaze. It does not detract from the piece, in my opinion. It is just quilt top with no batting, backing, or quilting. This quilt top can be found on page 182 of “Vintage Quilts” co-authored by Bobbie Aug. From the Estate of Bobbie Aug. Bobbie Aug was a well known and regarded quilt historian, author, appraiser, and quilter for over a half a century. She was also an antique quilt dealer and quilt store co- owner and judge. Most notable is her work on the American Quilter’s Society Quilt Appraiser Certification Committee and her early involvement in the Professional Association of Appraisers-Quilted Textiles.
