Description
Antique 1892 Redwork Summer Quilt – Signed with Many Names! It measures 70 x 68 inches. There is a large central medallion 32 x 22 inches of flowers surrounded by smaller blocks of flowers, animals, butterflies, the initial B, figures, and more. The 4.25 inch outer border along the top is embroidered In God We Trust with the words In and We created in Odd Fellow Rings. It is dated Dec 1, 1892 and has about 17 different names including EL Harvey, MS Slinker, EL Bennett, MJ Engelbert, CL Ungard, LV Bittner and much more. Other religious references include a woman seated reading the Holy Bible and The AM Vine along the bottom. It is hand pieced and hand embroidered. There is no batting but there is a white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with the back brought to the front and applied by hand. It is in fair condition with several spots, discolorations, edge wear, and loss to embroidery stitches, especially along the block seams. If you have any doubt, please ask questions!
