Description
Vintage c1940 Friendship Quilt from South Dakota with Floral applique blocks and hand embroidered signatures. It measure 68×71″. Comprised of 16 blocks, 14.5 x 14.5 inches, set straight, 4 by 4, with 2.5 inch pink sashing and turquoise cornerstones. It is machine pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. Many of the blocks have ladies names such as Clarice Riley, Eva Houston, Gladys Smith, and more. There is one block with the name Mrs. Chester Russell Rapid City So Dak. There is a thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with and applied pink binding. It is in good condition with only minor spots and discolorations.
