Description
Vintage c1940 Four Patch Quilt in a plain community palette of purple, blue, brown, and tan. It measures 65 by 75 inches. It is comprised of 72 blocks, 5.5 by 5.5 inches, set straight, 9 by 8, alternating 36 plain purple blocks with 36 two color four patch blocks worked in solid fabrics. There is a 3.5 inch navy inner border and a plain medium blue outer border measuring about 7-10 inches. It is machine pieced and hand quilted, with a diagonal crosshatch carried through the pieced field and a chain of large interlocking arcs running through both borders. The letters N E Y are hand embroidered in red along the outer border. The edge is finished with an applied darker blue binding, by machine.
Condition report:
It is in good condition with small spots, light overall toning, and light abrasion on several of the tan and brown patches.
