Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1950s

Matched pair of reverse appliqué mola panels featuring repeating rows of interlocking stepped scroll motifs, worked in three layers of black, red, turquoise blue, orange, and pink cotton. Sophisticated multi-depth color play with each layer revealed through concentric channels of angular cutwork. Fully filled allover composition with strong rhythmic repetition and consistent hand-stitching throughout. One panel retains a decorative appliqué sawtooth border.

Wear, fading, several areas with loose stitching and applique. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
