Description
Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1960s
14.25 x 20 inches (each panel)
Matched pair of finely worked reverse appliqué mola panels, each depicting a large stylized bird with elaborate herringbone-patterned plumage extending across wings and body, surrounded by smaller leaf forms and abstract organic fill. Each bird features a small concentric embroidered eye with red and white center and radiating rings of gold running stitch. Executed in two layers of dark charcoal grey and vivid magenta cotton. Dense hand-stitching throughout.

Condition report:
Wear, fading, and areas with slight fabric loss and loose applique. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
