Boldly composed reverse appliqué mola panel commemorating the Panamanian Liberal Party’s electoral campaign, inscribed “PARTIDO LIBERAL” in polychrome appliquéd letters around a large arched cartouche and “REPRESENTANTE” across the lower register, executed in three layers of black, orange, and red cotton with extensive appliqué and hand embroidery throughout. The central vignette depicts a seated figure in profile, densely filled with polychrome seed stitching, holding a staff and bearing the letters “L” and “9” on the chest. A banner below the figure is embroidered “30 DE JUNIO 1984,” recording the date of Panama’s general elections. The arch is outlined in concentric bands of red and orange, and the background is enlivened with rainbow-spectrum linear fill stitching. A rare and historically significant political mola documenting Guna engagement with Panamanian national politics.
