Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s

Finely worked mola panel densely populated with stylized animals placed in repeated rows across the field, each animal rendered with curved body, striped tail, and embroidered green and white detailing on head, with one larger annimal in the upper right distinguished by a yellow appliqué body, executed in two layers of red and blue cotton, with additional appliqué and hand embroidery in yellow, green, and white. Strong rhythmic composition and dense hand-stitching throughout.
