Panama (Guna Yala), circa 1970s

Worked in 3 layers of reverse appliqué,vappliqué, and hand embroidered mola panel featuring two interlocking gourd-shaped forms, each enclosing a central spiritual motif, worked in three layers of black, burgundy, and orange cotton with extensive multicolor hand embroidery throughout. The upper gourd contains a spiritual image rendered in pink and red appliqué; the lower gourds each enclose separate spirit fmotifs surrounded by densely stitched polychrome chevron and linear patterning. A field of multicolor appliquéd dash-stitch fills the borders on all sides.

Condition report:
Minor wear and fading consistent with age. In house Flat Rate US Shipping of $15 for 1 -10 molas, $5 each additional 10 molas. Insurance is additional and required.
