Description
There are three arpilleras from Peru and each is made with cotton. These pieces are made by women called Arpilleristas typically in the Andes or Lima. They are a vibrant, 3D textured, and hand sewn patchwork tapestries. Raised scenes of daily life are featured on them with these three featuring scenes of the beach, orange picking, and rural life. One tapestry is written with “pasaje” at the top which means passage. Men and women are gathering wood, handling bags, and dealing with animals with a house, stream, and a fruit tree in the picture. Another piece depicts men and women gathering fruit with animals near a stream. This piece is titled Harvest of Oranges in Spanish. The last piece is untitled and it is a beach scene. There are people in bathing suits harvesting fruit and people in the stream floating. These pieces are in good/fair condition with some spots or toning in areas, particularly the underside. They measure about 18.5″x19″ and the edges are crochet attachments. In house Flat Rate Shipping of $20 is a domestic shipping estimate for the first lot and includes insurance. We will gladly combine multiple lots for your convenience and economy. Each additional lot we can pack in the same box is $5-10 each.
