Description
Vintage Endless Chain Quilt,, difficult to date, but I estimate first half of 20th century. It measures 60 by 74 inches. It is comprised of 51 blocks, 9×9″, 49 are set straight, 7 by 7, with a solid black border on 2 sides, 9″ wide, with 2 blocks on the corners of one side. The red wool twill and black cotton solid fabric are very graphic, and construction technique is unique. It is hand pieced and hand quilted. Medium loft cotton batting and a black chambray reverse. The edge is finished with an applied black solid fabric binding. There is a sleeve on the reverse along one side for hanging.
