Reverse appliqué mola panels worked in two layers of black, yellow, and red cotton, each centering a central field organized by bold concentric labyrinthine forms in yellow and red against a dark charcoal ground. The front panel features two confronting birds rendered in blue and orange outline, flanking a central six-petaled flower motif in yellow, with an embroidered vessel in green and red below. The back panel presents three stacked registers, each enclosing a single bird rendered alternately in blue and green outline with densely embroidered bodies, interspersed with embroidered trapezoid vessel forms. Scroll terminals anchor the upper corners throughout. Techniques include reverse appliqué, appliqué, and embroidery. Applied to a child’s full blouse constructed with bright multicolored commercial floral-print cotton body fabric, white and red twisted cord trim at the yoke, orange ric-rac at the sleeve cuffs, and a wide gathered red cotton ruffle at the hem with orange border strip.
