Description
Vintage c1920 Art Deco Butterfly Quilt measuring 63 by 79 inches. It is comprised of 12 blocks, 14 1/2 by 14 1/2 inches, set straight, 3 by 4. Each block has an open work feed sack butterfly with blue triangle corners giving it an octagon block look. There is a 2.5 inch blue sashing and an 8 inch blue and white pieced Greek Key border. It is hand pieced, hand appliquéd, hand embroidered, and hand quilted. Thin cotton batting and an off white cotton reverse. The edge is finished with an applied white fabric binding.
Condition report:
It is in good condition with minor loss to embroidery stitches, some discoloration along the top edge, and 2 small spots on the binding.
