Description
Antique 1830-1840 Mosaic Quilt Top measuring 57×70 inches. Comprised of 2 inch hexagons with one print in the center of the Mosaic flower surrounded by 6 petals of another printed fabric. Prints include chintz, early purples starting to go fugitive, lapis prints, and other wonderful prints from the 2nd quarter of the 19th century. It is hand pieced on paper foundation with papers still intact with many being legible, including a date 1837. It is just a top, it is not finished with backing, batting for quilting . There is a tag attached stating that it was purchased in bath England from a dealer who claimed to have bought the quilt from the Maas family in Cornwall.
